Unity Rainbow Refugees Organization (URR) is dedicated to supporting, empowering, and advocating for refugees, particularly those from marginalized and vulnerable communities. Our initiatives focus on human rights, mental health, empowerment, community engagement, and well-being, creating a holistic approach to refugee support in Rwanda.

1. Human Rights Training for CSOs – 2025 Cycle
URR is honored to participate in the Human Rights Training for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) – 2025 Cycle. This program strengthens our capacity in human rights advocacy, community engagement, and protection of vulnerable populations. Through collaboration with other CSOs, URR shares experiences, learns best practices, and builds strategic partnerships that enhance our programs’ impact.
2. Strengthening Partnerships for Impact
URR works closely with local and international partners, NGOs, and community leaders to expand the reach and effectiveness of our programs. These collaborations allow us to share knowledge, resources, and best practices, ensuring sustainable outcomes for refugees. Joint workshops, training sessions, and advocacy campaigns help address discrimination, social exclusion, and other challenges while fostering resilience and self-reliance.
3. URR Member Engagement Sessions
We organize regular engagement sessions to listen to and involve our members in the decision-making process. These gatherings provide a safe space for sharing experiences, voicing concerns, and contributing ideas toward URR’s programs. Member engagement strengthens community solidarity and ensures that our initiatives respond to the real needs of refugees.
4. Practicing Presence, Meditation & Peer-to-Peer Talk
This program focuses on mindfulness and emotional well-being. Through meditation and peer-to-peer discussions, participants learn to stay present, reduce stress, and support one another. The initiative promotes mental calmness, emotional resilience, and stronger social bonds within the refugee community.
5. Yoga & Mindfulness Programs
URR’s yoga initiatives, including sessions funded by UHAI, integrate physical movement, breathing exercises, and meditation to promote holistic health. These programs improve self-awareness, stress management, and physical well-being while fostering community connections and mutual support.
6. I Can Make It! Empowerment Program
This initiative focuses on self-confidence, resilience, and positive self-identity. Participants are encouraged to believe in their abilities, stand against discrimination, and develop personal motivation. The program strengthens individual empowerment and equips refugees with the skills and mindset to overcome challenges.
7. Am Not Alone Support Program
The “Am Not Alone” program provides emotional support and trauma recovery for individuals facing discrimination and marginalization. It emphasizes community solidarity, ensuring participants know they are not isolated in their experiences. The initiative promotes healing, coping strategies, and mental resilience.
8. Therapy Program
In partnership with UHAI, URR offers therapeutic support focused on mental health and trauma recovery. Participants engage in structured sessions to process experiences of trauma, regulate emotions, and strengthen overall well-being. The program reinforces self-care and builds resilience in the refugee community.
