Yesterday we wrapped up a therapy program at URR in partnership with UHAI. The program focused on the problem of violence among the members and explored how they have overcome these challenges. The program began on January 31, 2025, and ended on February 3, 2025.
During the session, all members shared their personal testimonies and compared their lives before and after therapy. They mentioned that, before therapy, they had been living in a dark world filled with violence at home, at work, and within society. However, after therapy, they learned how to overcome these challenges. They learned how to fight against these issues and became good examples for others by helping them overcome similar struggles. Through various activities, including group work, icebreakers, shared meals, and other interactive sessions, they were able to heal and grow collectively.

Therapy helps them feel like they have someone who truly understands them. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to UHAI for making us feel valued and special through this transformative therapy program.

Therapy plays a crucial role in healing trauma caused by discrimination, whether based on sexual orientation, gender identity, race, or other factors. It helps individuals process their emotional wounds, rebuild self-worth, and develop resilience to cope with ongoing challenges. By teaching coping strategies, emotional regulation, and communication skills, therapy empowers individuals to face prejudice and violence with greater strength. It also provides a safe, judgment-free space for individuals to express their feelings, receive validation, and understand that discrimination is not their fault. Therapy fosters self-empowerment and confidence, motivating individuals to stand up against discrimination and advocate for positive change. Additionally, it helps break the cycle of internalized discrimination by challenging negative societal messages, improving self-perception, and contributing to broader social change.
